Web Women’s Group remember murdered women

Web Women’s Group will be releasing 159 balloons on the steps of the Holy Redeemer Church, Main St. Bray, Co. Wicklow on Human Rights Day, Thursday 10th December at mid day. One minutes silence will be held to remember the 159 women murdered in Ireland since 1996. The event will be launched by Paddy Cole, one of Ireland’s most respected musicians and everyone is invited to come along, release a balloon and join the group for tea and coffee after the event.

‘Silence is Violence’ Seminar: book your place now!

The second seminar on offer from the Bray Women’s Refuge during this year’s 16 Days, “Silence is Violence”, will be held on Thursday 26th November at the Ramada Hotel in Bray (registration at 9:30 am).

This Awareness Raising Seminar will explore the effects of domestic violence on medical health, addiction and homelessness.

Sessions will include Domestic Abuse Myths, Case Studies and a medical perspective; Domestic Abuse & Addiction;  Domestic Abuse, Homelessness & Suicide.

Representatives from voluntary and statutory sector services associated with the issue of Domestic Abuse i.e. The Medical Profession, An Garda Siochana, Addiction Services, Children and Young Peoples Support Organisations, Homeless Services and Welfare Supports are welcome.

A detailed agenda will be provided upon booking. This is a free seminar with buffet lunch included. Places are limited so please RSVP by 11th November to Astmanagerbwr@eircom.net or on 01 286 6163.

Bray Women’s Refuge holding two great Seminars

Bray WR LogoThe first seminar, on The Habitual Residency Condition of the Displaced Person and Human Trafficking into Ireland in Boston College, 42, St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin 2 (Opposite Shelbourne Hotel) at 7p.m sharp on Tuesday, 1st December, 2009.

Speakers will include:

  • Mr. Frank Crummy, Solicitor on Family Law
  • Petra Costacha from the Community Welfare office, of Non-national Irish Foreign National Unit
  • Nusha Yonkova from the Immigrant Council of Ireland

Time will be given for questions and answers and refreshments will be provided.
